How to get to the Makarska Riviera

Between Split and Dubrovnik, 60 kilometers away, we find a jewel called the Makarska Riviera. A perfect combination of sea, mountains and unique nature - a postcard of the Makarska Riviera.

Makarska Riviera

This coastal area is proud of the title "Dalmatian Cote d'Azur" for the reason that it will certainly not leave you indifferent when you see the combination of mountains and sea with a unique spectrum of colors.

For a special atmosphere, simply go to the Jadranska magistrala and before sunrise or sunset you will be speechless when you see the landscape that this area creates at the beginning and end of the day.

The sun, the sea, the mountains together with you create a scenario that is truly seen once in a lifetime and thus provide a unique and unrepeatable visual experience.

If you are traveling to Makarska or any place on the Makarska Riviera by car, depending on the direction of arrival (from the direction of Germany, Austria, Hungary...), you should go via the capital of Croatia, Zagreb, on the A1 highway or the Adriatic highway.

The Makarska Riviera is entered from the southeast from the town of Ploča, passing the Baćin Lakes, and after 12 km you reach the first place on the Makarska Riviera, Gradac.

From the northwest, the Makarska Riviera can be reached from the direction of Omiš near the Dubci pass, where the inland road from Šestanovac comes via Prisik (305 m). Coming across Biokovo from Vrgorac is a particularly impressive sight, because after the rugged and mighty Biokovo, the horizon opens up and the view of the Riviera in all its beauty, from Drašnice, through Podgora, Tučepi, Makarska, Brela all the way to Split, to the islands of Brač, Hvar, Korčula and the Pelješac peninsula.

Arriving by plane is possible to the nearest airports Split or Dubrovnik. Split airport is 115 km from the TUI BLUE Makarska hotel and the arrival time is around 1:30, while Dubrovnik airport is 160 km away and the arrival time is approximately 3 hours.

If you decide for such transport, be sure to contact us so that we can provide you with a transfer to the desired destination, more precisely the hotel.

Arriving by bus is quite simple, as the nearest bus station is in the city of Makarska, which is only 17 km from the hotel. The hotel also offers a transfer option, and you can check the bus lines on the following link: Timetable - AK MAKARSKA Online (ak-makarska.hr)

Here at Makarska Riviera, you can always see old settlements under the cliffs and slopes of Biokovo, which even today have preserved village architecture, old houses and taverns. Along the coast there are tourist spots with new hotels, houses, villas, harmoniously integrated into old fishing and village settlements where a new modern life has been created in accordance with the heritage.

No matter how you approach the Makarska Riviera, before you is a magnificent gift of nature - the monumental Biokovo in all its impressive size and beauty, which rises above the Makarska Riviera as an insurmountable protector of all the settlements in its vicinity and tourist spots along the coast that are like a shining, pearl necklace in its the foot.
